HS Tourney Wrap-Up Centex Wrap-Up VOM: Will Lafferty Catch the Disc 2nd Happy Hour

The Austin Scoober
April 2011

Pulling: a defensive tactic.
Pulls can make or break a game. A starting disc in the end zone with the threat of a Callahan score is nerve wracking for an offense. Not being able to catch the pull because it is too angled also slows down the offense, allowing the D more time to set up a mark. Landing the disc close to the sideline when it is windy can also put the offense at a disadvantage. Pulling is a skill that is not normally taught at typical practices.

Seuss toppled the 1st seed, Sons of Dojamite, and the second seed, Space City-X, in Pool B; meanwhile HIP held seed to finish at the top of Pool A.

by Jean Gaetan

Pop Quiz: When playing Ultimate, catching a Frisbee is:
A) Easy! Not a problem. What's the big deal?
B) Not always that easy. I drop more than I should.

If your answer is A, congratulations on being awesome. Nice job! Now, have a little understanding that not everyone shares your laser-sharp hand-eye coordination, lightening-fast reflexes and GI Joe Kung-fu grip. For many, many players (all those that answered B) overcoming the dropsies is an ongoing challenge without an easy fix. Fortunately, there are a few solid tips and tricks that can help you to advance your catching skills over the course of just a few weeks.
