It's time for me to say goodbye as President of the UPLA board. I've been in that spot since UPLA's inception and I will be passing the torch to Paul Normandin. I'll be taking a new position as Vice President and assisting Paul with the goals for the new fiscal year. There are still a few open positions on the board including "At Large" positions. Pick-up Ultimate's Home Page

Some innovations are, by their nature, so revolutionary that it becomes difficult to recall life before they came into existence. Fire. The wheel. Cell phones. Thundercloud Subs. And, of course, PickupUltimate.com. All of these are wondrous leaps forward in the ongoing story of mankind. I know it will be hard for some of you newbies to wrap your minds around this concept, but prior to February 2009 when PickupUltimate.com was first launched it was serious hell to find a pick-up game of Ultimate.

Taking wicked awesome Ultimate pics? We want them!
So you sometimes tote your camera to leagues and tournaments. Obviously, you're snagging some pictures of some of Austin's greatest Ultimate players schooling each other, right?
Chances are, you're hoarding these images for yourself (or maybe you shared them with your team). What good does that do, I ask. How can we all talk smack about who skied who if we don't see the proof?
Take those pictures you have on your computer and share them with all of the Austin Ultimate community to see.

Player Profile: Jacob Lohman

Jacob Lohman has earned himself a Player Profile this month because he just goddam deserves it. Seems like Jacob is everywhere at once these days... he coaches UT's two B teams, known collectively as Graze, and he is "the Prez" of the Mixed Club team, Beta Iota Delta (a.k.a. BID). He is involved with UPLA's Community Outreach Committee (headed by Paul Normandin). He's a regular Goaltimate player, too. And, in case that wasn't enough, Jacob is also a practice-player for Doublewide this year and is gearing up for grad school soon. [I know, right? Take a freakin' breather, dude!]

Have you ever found yourself walking down the street and thinking, "Man, if I had a disc right now I could totally throw a sweet inside-out huck and hit that passing pedicabber"? Well, have we got an event for you (minus the hitting a pedicabber part)... Urban!

Pickup while Traveling

I played Ultimate in Green Park in front of Buckingham Palace.
The week my husband and I spent in London was amazing - so much to see and do in such a diverse city. But what sticks out most was getting to play Ultimate in a park where I could actually see Buckingham Palace.
