Proving Ground

Whenever a hat league or tournament comes around, the wide range of players that typically participate bring with them an equally gangly range of skills, athleticism and personalities... And then they are all forced together onto one team, much like the cast of Survivor. What you end up with is your ballers, your up-and-comers, and your relative newbies, all playing together most likely for the very first time. It's Ultimate soup! And it's delicious.

Ultimate on TV! (Almost)

Ultimate on the TV!?! Quickly, someone look outside and check the sky for flying pigs!
Nah... Keep your seats, everyone. Monday Night Ultimate is not here... yet. But maybe we are now catching a glimpse of the early stages of that eventuality: NexGen Ultimate is a new enterprise formed by hard-core Ultimate players for the principle purpose of "televising" Championship Ultimate for all the world to see. (For now, you'll have to hook your television up to your computer to truly "televise" it, but whatever.) Wanted Dead or Alive

It may not seem like it most of the time, but there is actually an elaborate web of Ultimate "stuff" supporting you every time you play this great sport of ours. It starts with you, then bumps up to whoever helps coordinate whichever pick-up game you play or team you're on. Up from there and you'll find the local organization for Ultimate affectionately known in Austin as UPLA, (pronounced YOU-play, in case you haven't heard it spoken before). The next jump is all the way up to national level and to USA Ultimate. Beyond that and you enter the murky WFDF (World Flying Disc Federation), and who knows what the hell they do.
Back down at the local and national level, we got needs, man! Maybe even a need for YOU! Check out these great volunteering opportunities brought to you by both UPLA and USA Ultimate.
